EZproxy is a web proxy server used by libraries to give access from outside the library's computer network to restricted-access websites that authenticate users by IP address.
This allows library patrons at home or elsewhere to log in through their library's EZproxy server and gain access to bibliographic databases and the like to which their library subscribes.
Remote Authentication with Ezproxy allows libraries to create direct links to resources including eBooks. In addition, we will be able to configure remote authentication to databases which provide IP access as their only authentication mechanism.
Using this authentication you can create a single link which will provide access to specific resources both inside and outside your institution’s IP address range.
Inside of the IP address range, the patron will be automatically redirected directly to the resource. Outside of the IP address range, the patron will be prompted for a library barcode/user login credentials and then will be redirected to the resource if a valid information is supplied.
Once an institution/library sets up EZProxy on their end, they will have to provide Impelsys/iPublishCentral team with the IP address associated with that and we will add that in our system.
