Access is primarily set up via Common user credentials(username & password), IP Authentication(IP ranges of your library), Referrer URLs and Library Card Authentication.

Remote Access: The collection can be accessed remotely by using the credentials we provide, or if you do not want to login every time you have to access the books, we can set up Referrer URL access. For this to be set up, that library's IT or technical services, will have to send us a referring URL and we will include it in their mode of access.

Authentication for the Institution

Institutional authentication is required to view the institutional page. This section
describes how to get authentication to the institution through various ways.
There are four different ways of authentication defined in iPC.
1. Manage IP
2. Manage Common User
3. Manage Referer
4. Library Card Authentication

1. Manage IP
Institutional access supports IP address authentication on the portal. It allows
the institution to setup their account on the portal so that any user accessing the
portal from within their premises can get direct access to the bookshelf.
The IP authentication requires specifying the IP address or the range of IP
addresses. This helps the institution to restrict the accessibility of the portal to a
particular IP range.

IP Address starting with 192 is a private IP.

There are several ranges of IP address which are non-routed or 'private' and are used for local networks and do not cross the Internet. (NAT - Network Address Translation is used inside the kit to replace the local address for anything connecting to the Internet). You would normally see these ranges used on home network kit.
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255

We do not support Private IP for authentication.

2. Manage Common User
This (Common user) allows the individuals to access the institutional portal from
any supported web browser using the login credentials provided by the
institution. With the help of login credentials the user can log into the institution
bookshelf and read books.

3. Manage Referrer
The referral URL option allows remote institutional users to log into the
institution’s network; the users are then provided an authenticated page (only the
institutional users can access) on the institution’s network. The URL of this page
is configured against the institution’s account; this allows the users to gain
access to the bookshelf without using login credentials.
A button or a link on the authenticated page that will direct them to the  eBooks site (for example: ebooks.sesamestreet.org) needs to be setup on the landing page(the page a patron reaches after entering their library card number/barcodes).
Once this link/button is created, the library will have to send us the URL of that landing page that now contains the link/button.
We will use that URL to provide Referrer URL access, which will enable readers to access books remotely without having to login.

Note : the authenticated page URL should not be https://

4. Library Card Authentication
The Library Card Authentication option allows remote institutional users to log into the eBookStore. The user is required to visit our eBookStore where, he/she will be required to choose the Library Name and enter the Library Card number to access the eBooks
The Library is required to either provide us with the Library Card Range or provide us with the CSV file with the list of Library Card numbers.
Institutions can make it easier by adding a link on their webpage and redirecting it to our Library Card authentication page to help their users access the eBooks.
